Every great vision starts with a spark, but keeping that spark alive takes people who are willing to put in the work, even when no one’s watching. For 1776 Bail & Co., one of those people has always been Ovidia Wheeler.
Ovidia isn’t just Terri Mothershead’s sister. She’s been her cheerleader, sounding board, and partner in building something from the ground up. When Derek first painted the vision for what 1776 could be, it wasn’t just words to Ovidia. She caught the vision too, and from that moment forward, she rolled up her sleeves and got to work.
From the earliest days, before 1776 had a name anyone recognized, Ovidia was testing links, designing and tweaking the website, and experimenting with systems and processes. She wasn’t afraid of trial and error. She embraced it. Every broken link, every glitch, every “back to the drawing board” moment became another step forward because she was determined to help us get it right.
She wasn’t just working on a business. She was helping build a foundation. And that foundation wasn’t only made of tech and processes, it was made of persistence, patience, and an unwavering belief in the mission.
When the hours got long, the learning curves felt steep, and the road ahead seemed too hard to finish, Ovidia was the backbone we leaned on. She reminded us why we started. She made sure quitting was never the easy option.
And when the wins came, whether it was a new client, a successful system launch, or simply a day where things finally worked, Ovidia was the first to celebrate. She made the big victories feel unforgettable and the small ones feel just as important.
The truth is, 1776 Bail & Co. might have been sparked by a vision, but it was built with the grit, heart, and relentless support of people like Ovidia Wheeler. She is proof that sometimes the most important builders aren’t the ones in the spotlight. They are the ones holding the whole thing together behind the scenes.
Ovidia, thank you. Thank you for every late-night troubleshooting session, every encouraging word, every time you picked up the pieces and kept us moving forward. Thank you for believing in us when we were tired, and for celebrating like crazy when the victories came. You didn’t just support us. You helped build this. And for that, we will always be grateful.
